On a run this morning, while listening to Dwarkesh interview Tyler Cowen, I came up with what I think is my modern canon of writers and thinkers whose work I most consume. Here it is:
- Tyler Cowen
- I’ve been reading Marginal Revolution most days for about 6 months now.
- I also listen to most episodes of Conversations with Tyler. I enjoy it very must.
- Dwarkesh Patel
- This is the smartest podcast I listen to. Keeps a pulse on AI. Interviews with a lot of smart people in all kinds of fields from history to genetics to politics.
- Kyla Scanlon
- Some of the highest signal of economics and culture.
- And she very much seems to consider them both in a relationship to one another. Always interesting.
- Ben Hunt
- Epsilon Theory sort of sits at a cross section of politics and markets (investing, macro money stuff).
- Ben makes predictions and claims on whether ‘things are’ and where ‘they’re going’ and backs that up through history.
- Kevin Kelly
- One of my all-time favorites, first discovered through Tim Feriss’ podcast.
- I haven’t heard/read much from him recently, but he’s in the canon for sure.
- I value his opinion because he’s an optimist, technologist, nature-focused, and a Christian too I believe when I’ve experienced latently throughout his conversations and writings, as opposed to overt which can diminish some of the value I think.
Hopefully I’ll add more, but the list being short gives me lots to take in from a few Good People and therefore tolerable.
