Studio Ghlibi and Sadness

In the way it seems only Twitter can do, one person drove this week’s discourse.

Open AI dropped a new release to GPT 4o and gave everyone a heads up that certain style replications are pretty cool.

Studio Ghlibi was tried and it went off. Every image was in the style of Studio Ghlibi.

This post captures well what happened and why it’s interesting.

I think it’s very charming. I have no attachment to the Studio Ghlibi films so I don’t have a sense of sadness about it being recreate-able in a matter of minutes. But I get why it is sad. Why it threatens meaning.

To pile on, I had it recreate this image of Sadie and the kids in the style of Bluey.

What this ability means at scale, and whatever the next update is that implicates the next human endeavor, both concerns and amazes me.

Weird times.
