Training with Doug

I’ve started training for a 100k race this November that my friend Doug is also registered for, the Looking Glass 100k.

Other than the Black Mountain Monster 24hr that I ran (dropped at 40 miles) I think this is the only other race I’ve registered for in something like a few years.

It’s quite fun to be registered for something after being mostly self-directed since I started ultras in 2020.

So this morning, Doug and I ran up Allen Mountain in the rain and just chatted. It was great. We’ll do more of that over these next few months and it’s nice to be synced up with a friend who has a similar approach and philosophy on running that I perceive myself to have.

Mainly, it’s a beautiful, challenging, and fun thing to do and there’s not sense in treating it like this shiny productized thing.

Here’s to more miles with Doug!
